Aviation college hikes tuition fees

The Nigerian College of Aviation Technology, Zaria has announced an upward review of the standard pilot course fee from N7m to N13m due to inflationary trends and exchange rate volatility.

A source in the institute, who did not want his name in print because he is not to speak on the issue, disclosed this to our correspondent in Abuja on Monday.

According to the source, the standard pilot course fee was raised after much consultation with relevant stakeholders.

He claimed the Minister of Aviation, Hadi Sirika, did not have the power to increase the fee unilaterally.

He said, “The increment was carefully arrived at after a detailed consultation by stakeholders because the minister of aviation won’t have had the strength to give such approval if there were no detail consultation among stakeholders and the reality on the ground warranted the increase.”

Speaking further, the source said that even with the increase, it was still the most affordable among all aviation training institutes globally.
