Angélique Kidjo has been announced the winner of the 2020 Grammy Award for Best World Music for her album Celia.
This is the 4th time the Beninese and African legend is taking home an award at the coveted award show.
According to reports, she has been nominated nine times at the Grammy Awards.
Much to the disappointment of many Nigerian music lovers, she beat Nigeria’s superstar, Burna Boy and other artistes in the category.
Asides Kidjo, the others nominated for the Best World Music Grammy included Burna Boy – African Giant’, Altin Gün – Gece, Bokanté & Metropole Orkest Conducted By Jules Buckley – What Heat, Nathalie Joachim With Spektral Quartet – Fanm D’ayiti.
